Having unhealthy cooked food cravings on the raw food diet?
Your not alone. If there is anything that will hinder your success with this healthful way of living, it is letting the cooked food monster get to you. More often than not, it's not steamed veggies or rice you grab, it is those chips and bread.
Here is an easy way to slay the cooked food monster once and for all. It's using a simple technique called Ho'oponopono.
What is Ho'oponopono and how can it work for you?
Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice of forgiveness and reconciliation. It consist of the use of four short phrases which are" "I'm Sorry", "Forgive Me", "Thank You", and "I Love You".
Joe Vitale and Ihalekala Hew Len, in their book Zero Limits, describe this process as getting to "the state of Zero, where we would have zero limits. No memories. No identity."
It's when you get to this point of zero that the little voice in your head urging you to eat that unhealthy snack or cooked food ceases to exist.
The process works like this. At first you acknowledge you are having cravings and that something inside of you is pushing you towards fulfilling those cravings. You don't run away from it in fear, instead you confront it and accept that you have those cravings.
Next, instead of immediately going for that chocolate bar, chips, bread, or whatever it is you are craving, you simply repeat the four phrases: "I'm sorry", "forgive me", "thank you", "I Love you". You can say it out loud or quietly to yourself. Then, watch those cravings vanish just as quickly as they came.
What if one day you forget to do this process and give in to your cravings?
Too many times people trying to follow the healthy raw vegan diet beat themselves up for giving in to their cravings. The important thing is to shrug it off and keep on going. Even with this attitude there might linger that sense of guilt for falling off the wagon. Well, Ho'oponopono works for this as well.
If you find yourself feeling a little guilty for succumbing to the cooked food monster then take a few seconds to sit still and repeat the four phrases. By doing so, you forgive yourself and return the state of Love. It is in the state of "zero" that cravings, fear, shame, guilt or confusion do not exist.
Add Ho'oponopono to your toolbox and watch your focus, commitment, and momentum with your healthful eating plan increase so much, there will be no stopping you.
